Protect our feathered friends with WindowAlert Decals - an innovative solution designed to protect wild birds from accidental window strikes. Each decal features a special UV reflecting coating. The coating creates a brilliant glow visible to birds only.

UV Reflective Coating: The specialized UV coating ensures that birds see a brilliant glow, akin to a stoplight, making the decals a powerful visual deterrent.

Easy application: Place on the outside of the window.

Optimal placement: Scientific studies recommend positioning decals 4 inches horizontally and 2 inches vertically from each other.

Versatile and Repositionable: The static cling feature allows you to customize placement without any sticky residue.

4 decals per envelope, each approximately 4.25" x 3.75"

Type: Static cling. Made in the USA.

Create a bird-friendly environment effortlessly with WindowAlert Decals – where protection meets beauty and versatility.

UV coating will fade based on exposure and local elevation. For best results, replace decals every 4 months or test with the WindowAlert UV Flashlight.

(If a single bird repeatedly attacks your windows, please use our Stop Bird Attack product.)

Frequently Asked Questions

Got a question? We are here to answer!

Product Specific

Most designs are packaged with four WindowAlert decals in each envelope.

The Hawk design includes two decals. The Leaf Medley design has five decals and the Aspen Leaf design has eight small decals.

The decals have the appearance of frosted glass to humans.

Yes, WindowAlert decals may be used on commercial structures. Our Classic Square and Modern Square decals were designed with modern architecture, condominiums, and commercial structures in mind.

WindowAlert UV Liquid was also designed with commercial structures in mind. We suggest using UV Liquid together with our decals for optimal protection.

Many commercial structures (high-rise buildings, sky bridges, sea walls, and wind walls, etc.) may be more exposed to the elements than residential structures. In these situations, it is reasonable to use UV Liquid alone. UV Liquid can be installed quickly by window washers and can withstand extreme conditions such as high winds around or at the top of such structures.

UV Liquid is also a suitable choice for glass enclosures at zoos, city bus stops, etc. and where vandalism or theft may result in the loss of decals.

Our decals are designed to be installed on the exterior of windows and reflect UV sunlight directly to the eyes of birds.

Decals installed on the interior of a window are typically less than 25% effective. Why? In this application, sunlight typically must pass through a double pane window, off the back of the decal, and then back out through the double pane window before finally reaching birds. Most of the UV sunlight is absorbed when passing through multiple panes of glass.

Our decals have a coating that brilliantly reflects ultraviolet light. Like any product, man-made or natural, our decals will degrade when exposed to the elements. Direct sunlight, inclement weather, and higher elevations (greater UV exposure) accelerate degradation of the decals. For best results, reapply every four months or test with the WindowAlert UV Flashlight.

The side of the decal that was against the paper backing should be placed against the glass.

It sounds like a case of a territorial bird attacking its own reflection in your window. In this case the recommended product to use is our Stop Bird Attack spray. https://windowalert.com/products/windowalert-stop-bird-attack

We recommend evaluating the spacing of your decals. It is possible that the decals are spaced too far apart, or that the decals have been on the windows for an extended period and have lost their effectiveness.

1. Test the decals using a UV flashlight

2. Space decals closer together. The American Bird Conservancy recommends spacing decals on a grid of 4" x 2"

Cleaning and Application

Our decals adhere best to glass surfaces.

Our decals utilize "static cling" to adhere to windows. There is no adhesive.

Decals are easy to remove from glass. Occasionally, a residue of dust will exist at the outline of the decal. This may be easily removed with warm water and/or window cleaner.

Yes. If you leave the decals on the window and use a squeegee to wipe down your window, it may leave a halo around the decal. This halo can be diminished by dabbing around the decal with a clean towel.

Our decals do not require direct sunlight. Ultraviolet light is always present during daylight. This is why people can still get sunburned on a cloudy day.

The reflectivity of our products is determined by the UV index on any given day. Dark and rainy days have a low UV index. Clear, sunny days have a high UV index. Sunny days with a few white cumulus clouds can have the highest UV index because the clouds are reflecting sunlight back to Earth.

Decals can be removed and later re-installed on a window. Prior to re-installation, restore the static cling by rinsing the decals in warm water.

Since our decals are adhesive-free and rely on static cling, here are some steps to help ensure they stick:

  1. Clean the Glass Thoroughly: Even small amounts of dust, grease, or residue can prevent proper cling. Use a mixture of water and isopropyl alcohol to clean the window and dry it completely with a lint-free cloth.
  2. Warm the Surface and Decal: Make sure both the window and the decal are gently warmed to improve flexibility and static cling. This is particularly important in the winter months.
  3. Application Technique: Lightly mist the glass with water before applying the decal. This can help remove air bubbles and create a stronger cling. Smooth the decal onto the glass using a credit card or squeegee, working from the center outward.
  4. Check the Surface: Ensure the window isn’t textured or coated, as these surfaces can interfere with static cling.

If you've tried these steps and the decal still isn’t adhering, let us know! We’ll do everything we can to assist further.
