Protecting Our Feathered Friends: Updated Guidelines for Safer Homes

If you’ve ever watched the birds in your garden, you know how much joy they bring. But it can be heartbreaking to see them injured or worse from flying into windows. That’s why we at WindowAlert are committed to making our homes safer for these beautiful creatures.

Our recent tests revealed which patterns are most effective in preventing bird collisions.

The first series compared the density pattern of UV Liquid dots.

In the second comparison we looked at a combination of UV Liquid dots in addition to WindowAlert decals arranged in a grid pattern.

Based on these results, we’ve updated our spacing instructions:

  • Good: 20” spacing, providing basic protection.
  • Better: 10” spacing, for better coverage and peace of mind.
  • Best: 4” horizontal by 2” vertical matrix—our top recommendation for reducing bird collisions by over 50%.

Why it matters: Bird collisions with windows result in millions of fatalities each year. By following our updated guidelines, you can help protect the birds that bring life and joy to our backyards. It’s a simple way to make a big difference.

Pro Tip: Remember to replace your decals every 4 months to keep them effective. A little upkeep goes a long way in keeping your feathered friends safe.
